How to restart the furnace on a 2003 Newmar

Hi, all,

I have a 2003 Newmar Scottsdale, furnace was working fun but just stopped delivering heat. Slight LP smell at that time, not so much since. LP works for the fridge and water heater. I just use the onboard thermostat to fire it up, worked fine right until it didn't -

Is there any way to check/relight/restart the furnace without taking it in for service? Any suggestions appreciated!

Turn T-stat OFF then back on........

Does Furnace Fan come on?
Yes....does it attempt to Ignite the propane (CLICK CLICK CLICK)?

No Fan.......then check Source FUSE if blown
IF Source FUSE not blown...then need to check if the On/Off Circuit Breaker AT the furnace has tripped
*Fan MUST run before anything else can occur

If FAN does run then you have an issue with Sail Switch, Timed Delay Relay or Circuit Board

Brand/Model of furnace??????

Furnace troubleshooting

Thanks, Old Buscuit, for the quick and detailed reply!

The Fan DOES come on, I do not hear a click. I have fussed with the thermostat over and over, any combination I can think of, no heat.

I'll need help with the rest of the diagnostics, which likely means a visit to the service center, but that's ok, just needed to know if there were any other options besides troubleshooting.

Is the pilot ignitable if I open the outside panel of the furnace? Hesitant to do so unless there any user-accessible parts inside.

Doesn't have a pilot flame....uses high voltage spark to ignite the flame AND Prove it lit via spark electrode

If you have exterior access then components can be accessed....sail switch (fan comes up to speed/airflow closes the sail switch) then DC can go to circuit board for ignition sequence
*Your 2003 model probably uses a Time Delay Relay which controls DC to fan and to sail switch---that fail and nothing happens

Under the exterior cover there should be a Wiring Schematic plus model number
