A couple of months ago our rig was in the shop for a month waiting for a new lock for our refrigerator. I didn't check the lock when I picked up the coach.

Last week, I tried, and the lock won't slide. It's a Whirlpool.

The lock is a black slide below the refrigerator door and above the freezer compartment. It looks like someone hammered on it.

Should I just whack it or what?

Our fridge lock can be extremely hard to slide at times. Are you sure you are attempting to slide in the correct direction?

The slide is held in place by two screws. Try loosening them a bit. Use a little loctite and adjust the screws so the lock slides but isn’t too loose.

Standing in front of the fridge, slide the lock from right to left to unlock. Maybe push in the freezer a bit and or lightly tap to the left to open. Then you could put some lube on it if you so desire.

Sorry, reverse what I just stated, it's the exact opposite.

Dutchstart411- Mine is just the opposite - sliding the lock right to the left- front of coach to rear of coach unlocks it & vice versa. Lube the slide with some Silicone spray lubricant & the ball spring plunger in the housing with WD-40. That should get it freed up.

You are absolutely correct... just signed in to reverse my directions after thinking about it a bit more

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried pushing refridgerator doors, not freezer door. Will try pushing in the freezer door and lubricating in the morning.

I'll also try loosening the screws if I can find them.

You can't loosen the screws until you get the door open. You're going to have to push/force it right to left, to unlock it. For it to be that tight, it must be jammed there is a pin that rides in a slot to to lock it.

Here is a photo of the pin, that is mounted/inserted in the top of the freezer door. The other photo is the sliding portion of the lock attached to the bottom of the door. The pin has to slide in the bottom portion of the "L" shaped trough (lower portion of the "L"), then the doors pull open.
