I doubt there is a clear answer to this question -- but at what windspeed would you worry about a stationary MH tipping over in a broadside wind? We are in the Tampa area, and now things are beginning to look a little dicey with the latest (Thursday evening) tracks. The rig is at a nearby RV park, and I have been planning to move it to the house where there are fewer trees and less nearby water.

Not 100% sure , but there are a lot of photos from Texas with RV's flipped .
If I had to guess I'd say just about anything over 75 MPH would do it. Cross wind gusts of 60ish will flip a moving semi that weighs twice as much.
No chance to leave ???

5th wheel not far from my home rolled in what the weather service called 75 mph wind gusts.

If I can add my thoughts, the tractor trailers are much higher with a higher center of gravity and the 5th wheel is probably lighter. Having said that, the motorhome is made to move. Why aren't you moving way north and west?

Thanks for various thoughts. We are considering hitting the road late Friday which would give us 36 hours to get to a safer location. Much depends on the track, but we are leaning towards a run north and then west.

Hi MD-Keith,
Stationary, jacks down and slides in. Cat 2 before the coach will tip over. Moving a 40-50 mph gust will topple it.

A bad combo whatever the wind speed. With a monster like Irma, your rig is at the mercy of nature. Check your insurance policy. Godspeed and prayers...

My brothers Montana fiver flipped at an RV park near St. Louis two years ago. The meteorologists (on TV) said that the wind gusts that were expected and that ultimately flipped them were 45-50 mph straight line winds. He had all his slides deployed and jacks all down. He and his wife were trapped inside the fiver for about 30 minutes until fire rescue could get them out. So, yes. It can happen.

At this late time you will be crawling to where you think you want to go and probably get stuck in it. Get out NOW!!!

We were in our MH when a storm came through. 80 mph straight-line wind. I had a 32' enclosed trailer with a race car hooked up. I turned facing down wind. We were hanging on white knuckled for about 20 minutes. We were lucky as trees were down all around us and some buildings had roofs blown off. Cross wind would have had a different ending.

a lot of RV dealers, with full lots, will be in the track of this hurricane. Wonder how they all make their way to the marketplace over the upcoming months?
