HWH HOT Wire

Recently when I went to deploy my jacks all I heard from the system was a click every time pushed a button to extend a jack. Having heard this symptom before on another coach I went out an gave a little wiggle to the yellow wire that goes from the solenoid to the back side of the pump motor. Tried the system again it now worked but I smelled that smell you get when power wires are hot. Went out and looked and the yellow wire was smoking. Checked the wire for tightness and it was a little loose on the motor stud so I guess it was arcing. Tightened it up as much as I thought I could get away with, I didn't want to damage the stud. Tried the system again and it was better but still getting hot if the pump runs a long time. I have been getting by with just manually deploying the jacks in shot run segments, then letting the wire cool down and continuing. I was thinking the full solution would be to replace the heavy power wire and clean the stud terminal of all corrosion, does that sound correct? The power wire seems a little melted at the motor end but it is hard to tell without removing it for inspection, it's a little hard to reach.

My wire lead had a 40 amp fuse at that location yours may not.
The 40 amp fuse was in a black fuse holder and became corroded over the years and I replaced it with a auto reset 40 amp circuit breaker and everything worked fine after that.
Some coach's like yours did not have the fuse holder and must just have the wire you have. So you can see there is a heavy current passing through that wire if its dried out insulation wise I would replace it and clean up all the wire nut terminations and protect with di-electric grease or battery red protector to keep the corrosion away.
I would cut wire back as far as you can and splice with a new connector at the nut terminal end.
That area is exposed to a lot of water and maybe salts off road in winter my coach was a 03 and you have a 2013 so it does not take to long to break things down.
Just to add when we bought our 03 I found the ground cable on the chassis battery loose a month after we bought it so its a good idea to check wiring locations like load centers, TS, FUSE PANELS because the road vibrations are going to loosen them up even more and stranded wiring cables will flatten out over time and become loose and cause heat and burning insulation on wiring in some of these locations, its just a added benefit of being an RVer, be safe my friend.

Thank you, I am going to replace the whole wire and clean and protect the terminals.

Hi OC Bill,
After completing what was already posted, consider adding a ground wire. HWH has a reputation for bad ground wire connections.
