Hydronic system

We have a Precision Temp hydronic heating system in our coach. It is a single pump so it serves as the hot water heater and the heating system at the same time. No block heater either, single loop system. It does well with the hot water and the heating system is keeping up with the temps in the 40’s now. We live in the mountains of New Mexico where temps can breach in the teens and single digits in the winter time. We are choosing to stay in the coach through the winter while our next house is being built. My questions are:
1. Is the system able to handle temps that may not rise above 40 degrees for weeks at time?
2. There is a “hydronic fan” switch on the dash board of this coach that the indicator light does come on when switched on and seems to do nothing? Anyone know what this switch is suppose to turn on and any possible reason it doesnt. I’m thinking it may have to do with the basement heat?
Thanks for any help.

Hydronic system

I don’t have any experience with your system, but have had both Aqua Hot and Oasis systems in two different coaches and have found both to be very efficient in handling low temperature conditions.

Since you have a DS, you have better than average insulation. Assuming you have 50 amp service, you might consider using one or two quality electric heaters for supplemental heat if necessary.

I believe the hydronic fan switch on dash turns on a heat register in dash area. The fan may be nearly silent, but you should feel some heat coming out when system is running

Your precision temp is propane, right ? If so then like the other member already suggested, if on 50 amp shore power get a couple of electric oil filled radiator heaters, and run them on the 600 watt (low) setting to not burn so much propane.

Another option is to get a large 100 gallon propane tank externally, and hookup to that.

So that would be an additional option. There is an “ON INDICATOR” light on the switch itself which doesn’t light up when the switch in the ON position. I’ll need to trace that out and see if a breaker or fuse if bad.

It is propane. Have the solo heaters standing by. By coincidence I have a call into our local propane store asking about that 100 gallon tank. Already have the adaptors to tap into the system with as well.

Sounds like I’m tracking in the right direction. It’s just always nice to hear other opinions and experiences. I love this place!
