I added an Echo Dot to my outdoor TV bay so I have the alternate options piping Spotify and SiriusXM in easily to my Samsung 3.1 soundbar and of course bluetooth from phone but some were asking about how to fix the sound issues from the dash radio.
With Spotify, SiriusXM etc. connected to your Amazon Echo (Alexa) account it makes listening to music through any device or area very easy.

The real big problem with using an Amazon device or AppleTV is that it depends on you having a Wi-Fi network active which isn’t always optimum. I sure wish they supported WiFi direct!
Of course, for the old-school people, it’s a bit overwhelming too. But...it would be nice to have the source coming directly from the radio on occasions. But I’m with you, and streaming is much preferable.

Its not just the old people. I pay a Sirius subscription for a portable radio used in my truck/boat and for a subscription for the motor home dash radio. I would like to be able to play Sirius on the Bose and have the volume work properly. Many just say to run it from an APP, but that requires another subscription to Sirius or a more expensive plan....I don't want to do that....I just want it to work correctly.

Don, absolutely! I didn’t say “old people “, I said “old-school “; meaning the conventional way of playing a radio with AM/FM/CD, etc.
I understand what you want to do, and Neal has found a way to do that using an Amazon Echo. I agree with the Silliness of needing an extra subscription. Here’s something equally stupid: Alpine says their unit is capable of Sirius. Uh...duh...if you use the App on your phone! What kind of deceitful marketing is that?
My point was that the streaming devices require a Wi-Fi, whereas just traditional Sirius would not.

If we weren't lazy (me) and wanted to save money, you could just pay for SiriusXM streaming (I think) and not activate any radio. Then from your phone via a bluetooth connection to your dash radio, sound bar, etc. just play SiriusXM from your smartphone. It's the same as Pandora, Spotify, etc. Now everything has bluetooth (dash radio, sound bars, TV's, etc.) that your smartphone can play everything you want and minimize redundant subscriptions. But subscribers don't want you to know this. I have four subscriptions (radios) on SiriusXM and that's stupid, but I do it.

Right Neal. However, I think you’re taking one thing for granted, and that is having a good cellular connection which, which isn’t always possible in the sticks...or should I say trees.
For that reason, some folks prefer true Sirius connection via satellite which is almost always available.

I have 2 vehicles under SiriusXM. I also have the streaming service for and additional $7.95 per month. I have sprint cell and Verizon jet pack thru FMCA. I use sprint on the road and at 90% of all campgrounds. Jet Pack everywhere else or when reception is problematic on Sprint. I f you have Amazon Prime, the music app is free for you to use. Just sign in like it was Amazon. It works the same as Pandora. Which I have also.

Sorry....old people and old school are similar!
I go CAMPING, which means that it's often out in country.....in areas that don't have cell or wifi service or it's weak. I understand the world is on the path to stream everything, but it isn't there yet. I subscribe to satellite TV and radio because I can get satellite everywhere.
I watch my kids when we camp, Bluetooth their phones to outdoor radios and speakers. I also watch them walk over every ten minutes to reset them because the streaming quit. Oh yeah....then the phone rings and they step away to take a call and the music quits again, or they want to use their phone to look something up and the music quits.
I'm not a dinosaur and I realize things are changing....but I DON'T want my LIFE linked to my phone. In all seriousness, some of you will be in deep trouble if you ever lose your phone on a trip. You won't have music, GPS or a way to dump your toilet.

LOL just for info, after you have streamed Pandora with your created stations, it creates off line abilities. If you lose your connection it just keeps right on playing. My SteelyDan, Charlie Daniels and others will just use the offline when the internet goes south. I’m 62 and old school! However I’m open to new ways that fit my life style. [emoji16]

Don you silly feller...I’m agreeing with you!!!
I support your need for Sirius while in the boonies where’s there’s no cellular signal...you DID read my reply to Neal, right? ;-)
Oh, and asked your kids what “Kick’n it, Old School” means! It’s not just for the old farts, Dude!

I'm done with this thread. The thought of camping without Internet is pure blasphemy. How will I start my campfire without bluetooth? Not checking email every 3.1 minutes? How will I do firmware updates on my pellet grill? Y'all are stressing me out!

You're not the only ones who laugh at me.....my daughters look at me like I just crawled out from under a rock. It took me years to start texting.....back then, if you wanted to talk to me, you had to call. I do text now, but I believe it will be the downfall of the next generations' ability to communicate in person with one another.....it's already an issue. My grandkids are limited as to the hours they spend on electronic devices so they don't become social turds.
Now this will kill you....ready......I still pay my bills with a check. On the occasion when we're out of town on the 30th, I have the bills ready to go and most checks written....my one daughter who still understands my ways will come by, finish up the checks that are not the same every month, and mail them.....yes gents, I still buy stamps!

For those considering replacing their Xite with a Kenwood DNX775RVS, here's the latest...received today...from Kenwood.
"I understand you are inquiring about the DNX775RVS. Unfortunately the availability date is not available. We apologize for the inconvenience."
It is currently "vaporware" as we used to say.
