I Checked My Slide-out Motor Bolts for the Last Time
I finally got around to completing my retrofit of the slideout motor bolts with the Stage 8 locking solution. Yes they are pricey but so is anything manufactured by Newmar. A new motor can cost over 600 dollars plus install.
The entire job took about 1 1/2 hour, the motor under the slide is a bear to get to for a tall guy.
The install is straight forward and everything is supplied to complete the job. I used a 1/2 ratchet wrench,a electric socket wrench, a torque wrench and some needle nose vice grips.
For those that have not done anything with the slide motors, on my coach, a 2017 3736, the kitchen slide motors are inside the 1st and 2nd bay doors on the passenger side, remove the black covers to get to the motors. The bedroom slide is under the bed and after removing the floor panels, you will see the motor. I have included photos of the install.
I previously tried the stud, lock washer and blue loctite, the studs came loose on the bedroom slide this year during inspection so I went for this solution

Looks great. Been using stage 8 fasteners on race car headers for years. Top notch

Great work, for most slide out motors except the bedroom slide which has a different set of bolts and screws. When one is checking and changing the slide out motor bolts don't forget to check under your bed the slide out motor bolts for bedroom slide too.

I looked on Stage 8 website and see two different part numbers for the RV section. Which part number did you use? Is the same part for the bedroom slide as the kitchen slide?

I'm not saying that won't work, it will, but it seems like an expensive solution for something a couple of drilled bolt heads and some safety wire will take care of. I guess it's just the cheap skate in me.

Oh, I totally agree, this was just the best solution for me, I’m done with this issue. I did all the fixes except safety wire, but none of the of the other fixes worked for me, cheap insurance for me...

I actually don’t have the part number, this was a prototype, Call Stage 8, they will get you the right kit.

I used 19 foot pounds as advised by Newmar for the 5/16 bolts with the 1/2 inch heads
