I different question about macerator toilets

OK, read many threads ref these toilets. I have a 2014 Ventana with the Dometic macerator toilet. The wife wants me to ask what you all use for odor control. I have the opinion that these toilets should not have any odor as long as the flush is complete since they have a water seal just the same as a residential toilet. What say you all? She has liquid and tablet type stuff left over from the prior coach. I would think that the tablets would need to be left in the bowl long enough to let them soften up before flushing. THANKS, Ted

Tablets & Other

Ted,

We use the tablets as well although if you use the sewer flush connection say once per month that should keep the odor down to a minimum. Actually we have never had a odor problem at all. With the tablets I just put one in the toilet, let it dissolve. Never had a problem yet and I also have the Dometic.

Hope this helps.

As for the toilet: you are 100% correct

HOWEER... there is still a posibility of odor via a different path.. That said, WATER is your best odor control and that toilet uses more than enough.. I hae found the Gray tank to be stinkier by far than the black.

Actually, there is a "duck bill" type device which closes off the odors from below. I rinse the black tank with each dump and have yet to use any odor control. Remember, with the small tank, you are running that stuff through the black system so fast it doesn't have time to stink. So far no smell coming from the gray either!

Don't flush the toilet with the air vent over open. This may cause odors. I learned this from the RV Geek on YouTube.
