I hope this doesn't offend

Wife and I are looking at trading our Tiffin in for a couple year old Dutch Star. Drove one the other day and...WOW ! Can't wait to find the right one. The only thing I'm not excited about is the chrome " grill " . Question, has anyone removed theirs and repainted body color and if so, how did you remove. Or would this be sacrilegious to deface a Dutch Star !!??

That chrome plate is actually stainless steel. I never cared for it on my 2014 DS, because it was hard to keep it looking nice. Many liked it, feeling that it protected the front end. They eliminated it on the 2019 DS.

You could paint it or even have it wrapped.

You must pay attention to people who don't like your modifications to the grill (or any other part of YOUR coach) in the exact percentage that they make your mortgage payment. If they don't pay money, you ignore them!

If they don't like it, they can get out their checkbook!

Different strokes.... Personally, I don't care for the newer DS look since they removed the stainless. Looks more like a Ventana to me. Again, just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

While we are at it, I never liked my Ventana “grill” as it makes it look like a gasser. I have half thought of asking Nappanee to replace it with a flat, regular one...although I know the cost could be high.

It matters not what other people think of how you decorate your RV.
Do what pleases you the most.
Some people will like it, others will hate it, others won't even notice. Whatever it is they think, it just doesn't matter.

I never liked the stainless grill on the front of our either. It has scratches in it now and a couple rock dents that distracts from the looks. I contacted Newmar and a replacement was over $1000 - I'll put up with the scratched and dents. I did buy some mylar wrap in a different color to put on there which will hide the scratches, but not the rock dents.

PanJH- Have you priced it through Sumitt Products (800-329-2958) in Iowa? Ask for Kelly Johnson & tell him the 'Capt.' referred you. They are the OEM supplier to Newmar that made it. I'd bet it will be about half price of what Newmar is asking?

Happy Trails

Thanks for all the response's. Does anyone know how it attaches ? My guess is a 2 way tape of some kind that maybe you could hit with a heatgun and pull off much like emblems and trim on a automobile. Or it mechanically attaches somehow.......

It is not mechanically attached as there are no visible signs on the back side when you open the hood. It appears the hood is painted behind if you look thru the slats in the trim. I have considered removing ours since it presently has a dent from a rock, but have not yet done so.
