Of great issue is the rock chips that would accumulate on the front. I know how many chips and nicks the windshield has. What would the paint look like?

I guess there are trade-offs.

I wonder what material they're using, I've had various different products on my cars for 20+ years (starting with Sonegaurd which I think was the first) and never had this sort of issue. two of my cars have full hood wraps int he clear, and they're fantastic. It certainly helps with rockchips, my track car front end has one chip after 20 years of track use, most track cars look like they've been sandblasted.

I just wash and wax them like they're paint.

When we got the coach, everything was beautiful except for the DS. That's not a knock against the PO, because I now understand why it was in the condition it's in. It's like they are melted into the film. I have literally scratched the film using my fingernails trying to remove a splatter, after being unsuccessful with all other methods.

I took a buffer and rubbing compound and lightly buffed mine it helped a little with the shine but did not get rid of all the bug spots

On my previous Madp we had the sidewalls replaced and during that they replaced the ds I always washed it every time we came home and never had an issue with it in 3 years

The thought of using a buffer crossed my mind last weekend only I was thinking about finding a bug remover pad for it. I never thought about using rubbing compound.

If the DS is faded ,you should be able to wet sand the surface off using a 2000 grit sand paper and dip it in water as you sand with it then buff it with a buffer and compound.I never done it but I removed deep scratch out of plexyglass and even polish boat mika that where all faded to the point you could barely see through them .do just a small test like 6 inch and see the difference.you can do your head light at the same time come back like new .

I just ordered two more products to try. One is Love Bug Eraser. I saw it in another topic on IRV2. The other is BUG-OFF. I just happened upon it on Amazon while looking at the 1st item. I'll post my results after they arrive.

3m film deteriorates too. Mine eventually had cracks that went pretty much all the way through. I removed it all from the front, and need to remove another piece that was applied on the ledge just under the engine access door. I would not try to sand any scratches out. The film is not that hard, and very thin. I would not put any similar product on any of my vehicles again unless the vehicle would be stored inside most of the time; and/or I knew for sure I would be getting rid of it in no more than 5 years.

I heard through the grapevine the Diamond Shield is planning a product recall. Has anyone else heard about this?

I talked to Diamond Shield. They said the warranty was for 3 years. At the time I had mine for 4 years. Isn't that convenient. However for $600. they would come remove it and for $1100 more they would put the new stuff on it. Mine looks terrible and removing it is quite a project.Click image for larger version

I agree. It's a horrible product and I don't see why RV Manufacturers keep using it.

That is absolutely horrible, and not the only rig of a similar age I've seen that looks like that.

Jump forward 3 years. Our 2011 still application still looks new, save the rock cuts here and there. No chips in the paint or fiberglass where protected. I think a change in "formula" was made somewhere in those three years.

Wow! I don't blame you. I would be P.O.'d. Gives us something to look forward to. I wonder how badly the paint is damaged underneath.
