Indoor storage costs.

For those of you that store your rigs indoors. What can I expect are the average costs? With and without 50amp service, etc... Just trying to weigh the costs of building an RV garage vs. storing my rig. Thanks in advance, Andrew

The cost varies greatly from place to place. I have heard numbers of $150/mo all the way up to $800/mo. You need to check in your locale.

If a rig is in storage, especially inside, why do you need 50 amp service?

15 amp is plenty to keep your fridge and battery charger on. Even if you have 50 amp service, you are only going to be using a tiny fraction of that power.

Yes 15 amp definitely makes sense.

15 Amps is fine, as long as you don't run into the tripping GFCI issue, many MH owners encounter.

My storage location with covered storage has some 15A outlets and all are GFCI I'm guessing per code.
Thats part of why I prefer to use batty maintainers as they are fine with GFCI.
As a side benefit the owner was willing to waive the elec charge due to the low A draw of maintainers.
I installed 30A at home for use during loading, prep, unloading or working on the MH

Probably best to call the places that you might use and ask them. Fully enclosed 50 storage in my area is about $550 per month and very hard to get.

When I was checking around in our area it seemed $12/foot for indoor storage with 15A service.

I have stored inside climate control except Summer no AC but can plug in 15amp for $325/mo and i can go in and work on it and wash myself. I have been with these folks many years and in RI I leave by Nov 1 and they fill up for the winter while I’m down South.

A year ago, we completed our RV barn. Cost was approx 60K, so right now my storage costs are expensive. We put 50 amp service so we could run anything in the coach if we wanted or needed it. Not having to winterize is one of the biggest advantages along with having it right by our garage to load and unload.

Prior to building, we were paying $140/mo for covered storage with 15amp electric.

Costs are going to differ regionally. Here its $340 + tax/ month for a non private enclosed storage building with 30 amp electrical. That's for a 38' length. I used to own a house and built a shop for my rv. Since I have relocated I now have a 1500 sf building for my rv and other items. Take away the cash outlay, the monthly cost is equivalent.

I am in a fully enclosed stall with 15amp power for $110 per month. My storage is less than a mile from my house.
The quotes for a concrete pad, driveway, covered (open on the ends and 1/2 sides), and power was $16K.
Not to mention the negative impact on the future resale of my house, when someone without an RV is looking to buy my house.

We pay 10$/ft at NIRVC in AZ. Great experience, very nice to have service built into storage location.
