IndyCar race at Pocono Raceway
Any other Newmar owners here at the IndyCar race at Pocono this weekend?
I see a Dutchstar across the track from us.

Not at the race, but am curious if you watch the race from the roof of the Ventana.
We used to go to a few NASCAR races each year, but haven't been in a few years and never attended one with an RV.

We use the roof when necessary. The spot we have at Pocono is right on the track and actually above track level. We have an awesome view right from the driver and passenger seats!

On the TV broadcast? That's so cool.

Yes, terrible freak accident. He was hit in the head by flying debris from Karam's spin.

We were just there for the NASCAR race on August 2. Right where you are parked there was a 2015 or 2016 King Aire. That is a very nice place to watch the race. We weren't very impressed with that track . . . extremely bad communication and coordination. Even when we went to guest services to ask questions no one had a clue what was going on. Very frustrating. They need a couple more jumbo-trons also.
Hope your experience was different and you had a great weekend.

We were there for that Nascar race as well. In the Fenced in section in the infield. We LOVE IndyCar and the spot we have for the past three years there is awesome. Can't ever get that for the Nascar races.
The track people don't know what the heck is going on, I agree. The shuttle bus situation was a mess this weekend on off hours and no one knew what was going on. We wanted to get across the track to the infield for the concert Saturday night. I wound up flagging down the handicap bus and asked what was going on, she didn't know but drove us over. We wound up walking through the tunnel and around the track to get back to the MH after the concert at 10PM. Stupid.
But we stay mostly in hour MH anyway and watch the race live, on TV, on the iPad app and the a track/car radio. So we're pretty self contained.

Funny you say that because that was exactly our experience. We have been to several other NASCAR tracks and they are NIGHT and DAY different. EVERYONE knows what is going on and when. We went to the Pocono track because a good friend of our has been inviting us for YEARS and we finally agreed. The way they check you in and the chaos that causes was interesting all by itself. However we thought that would be the worst of it. Nope. After getting there we found out that Eric Lee Beddingfield was performing there both on Saturday night and Sunday pre-race. This was a huge surprise for us as we have been trying to see him live for years (love his music - Country). Anyway there are at least 4 stages setup up between vendor area, track, family camping area and infield. We asked so many people where he would be playing . . . no one had a clue. They had never heard of him and had no clue if or where he was playing. We finally found someone in guest services that told us Saturday night he was playing in infield. We managed to catch the bus (same experience as you with that) and saw his show. Then after show we had to walk back through the tunnel and out to coach because bus schedule was so messed up.
Sunday we were told he was playing pre-race in infield, then in vendor area, then no he was playing on the track . . . we went ALL over the place trying to see the show before finding out that they put him on this tiny little platform in the infield to play to the fans in the stands. Really? He was about the size of an ant. You needed a telescope to see him and the audio went out on the PA system. What a complete joke. Other tracks we go to have pre-race concerts with big names like that and have huge portable stages brought in right on track complete with speaker towers and the hole nine yards. I don't know who runs that track but they are CLUELESS. They need to fire the staff that run it, hire new people and go see how other tracks are run.
Also, I don't know when you arrived but we had about 1 - 2 hours of rain on Thursday morning . . . we had a LAKE where we were camping. It ended up being pretty funny because we joked about it all weekend. We named the lake. The track needs new/better drainage in the worst way . . .
We stayed in family camping not far from where you were parked for the Indy races. We'll probably go back but just to enjoy the company of our good friend(s). Ironically they usually watch the race from their coaches. Anyway if we do go back I'll try and hook up with you. Always good to meet fellow board members. We were there with 3 other Newmar coach owners, including our good friend.
Have you been to any other tracks? We'll be at the Loudon race in September.

If you go back to Pocono, try the "Preferred Infield RV" area. That's where we were for the August Nascar race. It's literally straight across from were we were this weekend. It's easy to get to everywhere because you're already in the infield. It's supposed to be for more "reserved" guests, so it's not as crazy party wise as the general infield and they check credentials to enter it's separate fenced-in area.
We've been to Watkins Glen many times. Since the IndyCars aren't there anymore, we haven't been back. We had a great spot there as well right on the fence line at turn 11.
We've also been to Mid-Ohio a lot. We had a travel trailer then and stayed in the on-site campground inside the complex but not on the track. That used to be great. You could rent a Golf Cart for the weekend and pretty much drive anywhere, into the Pits, Paddock, etc. New owners a couple of years ago tightened security up and took a lot of the fun out of it.
We've been to Louden NH once. You can't see the track from the main camping area and I think you pretty much have to be "Grandfathered" in to get one of the track view spots.
Nazareth, PA also used to be a great short oval track but is no more.

I think the track brass is more concerned about bragging of its solar farm than pay attention to track accommodations for its patrons.
