Iota charger

I have a new (to me) 2001 DSDP. It is equipped with the Heart Freedom 20 Inverter/Charger. But it also has 2 IOTA DLS-45 chargers. I understood the Heart to function as the battery charger for the house batteries (4x6v golf cart wet cell), so what is the function of the IOTA's?

I have requested an account on Newmar's NEWGLE web page, but have not heard back yet. It appears that this is the only source for downloading diagrams and manuals.

I am looking forward to becoming an active member of this forum.

In my 2003 Mountain Aire I also have 2 of these. They convert 120 VAC to 12 VDC each is capable of 45 Amps DC. They charge the batteries and can supply extra 12VDC to the coach.

Spec Sheet: https://www.iotaengineering.com/api/...ype=SPEC_SHEET

Also you can buy a IQ4 Smart Charging Controller (Iota) to control charge rate of batteries.

Works well to maintain batteries and not boil them dry.

If the Iota’s are charging the batteries, what is the battery charging function of the inverter doing? My understanding is that the inverter is a much “smarter” charger than the IOTA.

Does the inverter/charger look to be a factory install ?

Don't make sense to have both.

Twinboat, you gave me the answer. The inverter is not listed on the original build sheet, and as I look closer, it is definitely not a factory install. I guess I have dueling chargers!

Its OK, just make sure the converters don't run on inverter power. That's like a cat chasing its tail.
