Hi:

I am getting ready to install a US Gear Unified brake controller in my 2003 Scottsdale with a W22 chassis. Does anyone have experience installing this unit in a Scottsdale?

I have the Workhorse manuals but they are currently snowed in in the storage yard Is there any pre-wiring for brake controllers?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have an 04 MA and it is not wired... Also, I bought a used unit and had to do a few things on my own. I did a write up early and posted in the Towing section of IRV2.. Here is a link Unified Tow Brake Install

I am told that (and the Scottsdale sales brochure backs this up) the extra two pins on the 7-pin trailer receptacle are connected to two 14 ga. wires that run to the dashboard area, somewhere. I'm ashamed to say that I have yet to look for these wires, even though I want to use them to keep the toad battery charged.

btw: This is really a Newmar question, not a Workhorse question, since the wiring in question is installed by the coach builder.

Thanks Mahlon! As usual, you have the "scoop".

And I agonized a long time before posting here as opposed to the Newmar Forum. However, the thing that swayed my decision to post here was the blurb I found intimating a "connection (pun intended ) between Workhorse and US - Gear re: the unified controller pre-wiring.

Hopefully, I will be able to get out to the rig and secure the wiring diagrams etc. this weekend. At least I won't have to lie on my back in the mud to install the wiring.

God I luv this forum and it's members!

I found mine; it looks like a length of convoluted conduit with three 14 ga wires (org/blu/blk) and a paper tag lettered "Tow plug spares / trailer brake blue". Comes out of the firewall in the vicinity of the accelerator pedal (there's a LOT of wires passing through the firewall at that point) then is led up behind the instrument panel, right side. You should be able to find it by removing the dash lid and poking around behind the instrument panel/stereo aux box.

Thanks Mahlon! and "007"! It took me a while to find my post after it was moved from the Workhorse group

Seriously, that should save me many minutes trying to figure out where to look.
