Is it just easier to stay at a hotel in Nappanee?
We are taking our Bay Star in for some warranty work next week and I got to thinking it might just be easier to stay in a hotel rather than having to hook up and unhook up every day, and having to get up at 5:30. Plus, with it being colder now that just makes it all the more unpleasant in the am.
Thoughts?
Thanks.

That's what we did, stayed at a motel in Elkhart. Even by doing that, Newmar ran out of time on fixing/redoing everything that was required on our new Dutch Star. But, it was educational.

I am considering the same for my end of Nov trip but I also would rather be around to answer questions and ensure things are being done I'm asking to have done.

I will stay there the first night to meet with the techs on the first day in the am and then come back each day around 1:30 to see the progress that was made.
It just really seems like a hassle to hook up and unhook each day

I don't care about hooking/unhooking and you really only need to connect to power. Sewer is only for when you need to dump, you have plenty of fresh water, just use internal. It's really not that bad.

You could just hook up power every day, and use on board water and holding tanks while there. Doesn't help the 5:30 wakeup call though.

There is a Motel across from the Repair Center walking distance and Amish Acres for food, here is a link to Newmar Kountry and the area maps.

I would be careful about the Amish Inn. It is "OK" at best. Michelle Howard says she refused to have customers stay there. We did twice "first time and last time"

If you aren't going to stay in it I recommend having a look at your fridge and freezer and get out of there anything that can spoil when not plugged in while in for service. I haven't had it happen to me but just about every thread I read where a rig is in for extended service the contents of the fridge rotting gets blamed on the service dept. Also, if you have an LP fridge. I wouldn't trust them to make sure its level for operation.

bottom line is should you elect to stay in a hotel, the service department will have more time each day to actually work on your coach and they will make arrangements to call you each day with a status update.

Things at Amis Acres motel marginally clean. Everything worn out. Bed lamps etc not even plugged in. Remote won't work.. Breakfast OK at best but they have the price right up there with better choices.
Seasonal place and no investment being put back into building.
