.
That's a one-way valve that Newmar uses and not a regulator.

I would not trust an internal regulator

I use a 40-50 psi external regulator and check it once a month to make sure it is working correctly. I use an inexpensive external pressure gauge connected to the regulator output to test it. Regulators do occasionally fail. I have not heard of an internal RV pressure regulator and would not trust one if I had it.

My 2022 Aspire has a convenient place to add a regulator. On my old motorhome I had the regulator hooked in just before the filter set installed in the coach city water feed. I got tired of worrying about whether I remembered to take the regulator off the campground hydrant.

According to Amazon I bought this one Sept. 8, 2019. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Still using it today with no problems. I used to adjust it occasionally but I haven't done that in a long time. Obviously, I've never left it attached to the CG spigot but I like the idea of putting it in the wet bay. I'll make that change tomorrow.

The Renator regulator is a great value for the money. If you like a physical shower I suggest trying the Oxygenics RV hand held shower wands. Thrifty with water and it feels like you're taking a real shower. I liked it enough to replace the shower heads in my sticks and bricks with Oxygenics fixed heads.

It is installed correctly, if the standard water hose fittings are used it is impossible to install backwards. It just looks backwards because it is upside down. See photo below.

We have a 2016 Essex, unknown if this applies to the DS; there is a factory installed water pressure regulator connected to the inlet of the hose reel in the wet bay. This is an inexpensive non-adjustable regulator - using that term loosely. I believe the Newmar replacement number is 022112.
