It effects the ISLs with a side radiator. They're the only numbers that have been repeatedly been posted.

The MA, LA and Essex on Freightliner chassis all use a different fan clutch as well as different placement of the fan clutch. Instead of being mounted on the fan, the clutch is attached to the pulley, before the drive shaft and gear box.

This time I will allow a week to stay at the repair dealer. Maybe when they say they can't find a problem even after replacing the controller again, I will have the time to wait until the problem is found. Those drivers with this chassis that are getting 5.5 to 6 MPG I think need to have this issue checked and need to get with FL and have it checked out.
Has it been explained in any of the prior posts what the procedure is to by pass the controller, or did I miss it somehow as I've been trying to read and understand it all. I have a 2015 4018 and you're right, the 6 MPG is attrocious.

On my 2014 MADP the fan controller, referred to by the mfg., Horton as a "Guard Dog", is a small potted black box, about the size of a pack of cigarettes, mounted on the fan shaft right angle gear box, with a couple of tie wraps. It has two sets of wires, one set in from ECU, and one set out to fan clutch. To bypass the controller simply unplug both wires from it and plug the wire from the ECU directly into the wire from the fan clutch. Hope this helps.

If you do a search for " 450 isl operating temp" you will find a lot of info on this issue including pictures of the controller. If you have the high speed issue, you are still in warranty and FL should be repairing the problem. This is a temporary fix until you can get it repaired as the fan clutch may not like the controller being bypassed. Needless to say don't tell FL what you did.

Thanks resullivan and alan1. I'm going to try the controller by-passing and since my coach is only 6 months old now I do have some time yet to get FL to correct a problem. And agree, FL shouldn't know what is going on with our changes.
I have been reading the "450 ISL operating temp" thread but there is so much information in there that it is hard to digest it all.
