Red face Jack Questions

I recently purchased a 2005 Dutch Star. It's great but I'm having an issue with the jacks. First the passenger side rear jack doesn't go all the way up it stops about an inch from the top. I have to push it up by hand, and then it stays there and the travel mode light comes on. The other thing is leveling. The coach is off a little when it auto-levels. I read that there is an adjustment for it, and I have the manuals that show how to do it, but does anyone know where the box is located? I looked in all the basement bays but can't find it.

Might be time to replace your springs on your RR Jack. Try cleaning it and making sure you have the correct level in your hydraulic fluid reservoir. Run it up and down a few times. Controller could be in the Right Front along the generator. Look for the HWH pump, solenoids and the rectangular control box.

The HWH leveling BOX is located up front under the hood,a little to the left.
A about 8x10x3" aluminum box with a plastic see through cover.
The leveling sensor is at the bottom left of the box,it can be adjusted on level ground, watching the little lights on the touch-pad.
HWH has manuals on their website and they are also very helpful on the phone.
Hope this helps,
Siggy

Hi "gcoondog1",
If you are in ACC position and or can start the engine, you may have a bad
IN-Line fuse near the HWH valves & tank & pump motor.
Also check if any red LED's are lit in the HWH control box up front.
Then call HWH,they have manuals to download.
Siggy

Hi harleychief,
Look at the springs on your jacks. If the coil part of the spring is straight to the hook end, they are the old design. Consider replacing them. If the coil part of the spring starts to taper to the hook end they are the current design and should be okay.

Cleaning the piston is a temporary solution. In the era your coach was made, HWH jack have a very large seal at the bottom of the cylinder. The seal may collapse and tighten on the piston. The jack can be rebuilt or replaced.

Running the jacks up and down can be the easiest way to determine if they will work for you.

Welcome gcoondog1 to the forum & irv2.
Its somewhat hard to answer two different questions on same thread.
Its better that you start a new thread top left of forum next time.
We need to know what type system you have HWH or Electric jack or another type??
If its HWH in my signature I have a link to Quick Tips of all HWH Systems that should help trouble shoot your system.

Welcome to the forum harleychief & irv2.
On your jack system tanks your solenoids have wiring especially the white ones that should run to a good ground connection.
The wire should be tight and clean and maybe protected with dielectric grease.
As said the springs could be old but mine are the same and ten years old and still working.
If you leave the store button on while retracting the jacks the system will close when left alone in store position.
I have replaced jacks because of what Gary has mentioned the seal rings will bind and jack needs to be replaced.
All your jack shafts can be lubed with a silicone spray as I have done for years spray all the shaft than wipe off with paper towel and you will leave a slick shaft.
Work them up and down a few times to see the improvement.
I do carry a 6' 2x4 to help a jack fully retract if need be.
The solenoids do have needle valves that can get dirt in them.
Make sure the fluid tank is full to between the two lines on the bell vent on tank with all jack retracted.
Here is information on how to adjust the leveling of the coach if need be, the sensor will be in mid coach area.
Some of the newer coach's have leveling system controls with leds to adjust the system.
ALL HWH information is in QUICK TIPS & MODS
