Just went over Teton Pass on WY-22

I have a 2016 Ventana LE pulling a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Total of the two is around 36,000 lbs. I came from the Idaho side going to Fireside Resort just outside of Jackson Hole. It is a 10 mile 10% grade. I made it to the top at 15 MPH and in 2nd gear with my 360 HP Cummins engine. Whew!! I was starting to think I wasn't going to have enough power to get over the top.

We had went from Rock Springs WY to Idaho Falls on US 191 without issue other than having to traverse both Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP.

Is there another way?

Went up (and down) that one some years ago with our '97 Type C towing a '95 Honda Ody on a dolly. Going up was slow, coming down was faster and it burned out the brakes on the dolly (and I'm sure glad it had brakes!) We stopped at the bottom, friends in their Dolphin went right on by. Turns out he had no brakes until his cooled down.

In response to the question:
Route #2: Via the Snake River Canyon. This route is longer, but quite a bit flatter, too. Recommended for those with trailers or during severe winter weather.
Take US 26 East to Swan Valley
Continue on US-26 to Alpine
At Alpine, WY turn left at US-89
US 89 becomes US 191/US-89 at Hoback Junction.
Continue North to Jackson
--> Note: if you're going to Teton Village, take a left at WY-22 just after Albertsons
--> then, turn right at the Moose-Wilson Rd./ WY 390.

Now I'd like to ask you: How is 22 from Wilson to Hoback....and then 191 from Hoback to rock springs??? Will be doing that in near future? Also How was Fireside??

I agree, Alpine to Jackson is a very nice drive. Not bad on grades, beautiful and hardly any traffic. Did it about four years ago.

The drive from Jackson down to Rock Springs was a breeze and had some beautiful views. We overnighted in Farson at the gas station. They were gracious and the ice cream at the mercantile was very good too. The breakfast at Wrangler Cafe in Pinedale is worth the stop as well.

How was the Fireside Resort? I have reservations there in early August.

Not much to look at. Spots are on the crowded side but clean. Entry roads are narrow. Nestled in the forest so satellite may be improbable. Convenient to Teton Village and just off of the highway to Jackson. Staff is very friendly and moose inhabit the campground most early mornings. Bus stop just outside entry which will take you to Jackson or Teton Village.
