KIB Button on Steering Column Cover - What is it for???

I was checking my steering column bolt that is the subject of a recall and discovered this small button on the cover. The wires attached to it have a KIB sticker. I pressed it (couldn't resist - glad it was not an ejector seat), and the KIB panel all the way in the back started a constant beep. Pressed again and it stopped.

Does anyone know what this is for? Some sort of reset?

Thanks.

On my 2019 Dutch Star that little button is to change codes on the entry handle lock. It apparently started life as a red button but mine is black. Here is a thread on the little button when it was red.

Probably not. The procedure to program a new code is rather complicated and my recollection is that nothing changes if if you don't successfully complete all the steps.

You are right - checked them the other day, and the door code and remotes still work fine.
