King bed lift system

I presently have a king bed with the usual gas strut lifts. The struts don't hold & Newmar said even if I replace they will not last! My wife & I are in our seventies & if I'm not around she has trouble lifting the bed for access to storage.

Has anyone installed or modified this bed to lift automatically like the hatch on a car? It seems to me it would be a simple adaptation or am I wrong?

Thanks for any info

Have you replaced the gas struts yet? Ours were weak and had to use a prop to hold it up. Changed the gas struts, went to a higher level and it lifts much easier. Hope that helps.

Stronger gas struts will only help some (my opinion). It's that initial lift to get the bed to an angle where the struts kick in to assis the rest of the way. A friend added a handle to the platform that came out almost to the edge of the mattress. That extra for or five inches seemed to help a lot.
