Kitchen J trap disintegrating

The last day of our trip, DW came to me and said, "We have problem. There is water coming from under the kitchen cabinet"
On further inspection, found the kitchen sink drain dripping very hard.
The J trap tube was coming apart at the threads. Even the threaded ring popped out the rim. The plastic was crumbling in my fingers.
My problem is I can not find replacement for the last week. Newmar will be my last resort, but Im sure there must be a plumbing store selling them HD has them in 1 1/4" size only.
Wander if someone else had to deal with that?

You should be able to go to your local hardware store and put together a replacement trap... They come in all sizes and diameters...

Just ordered one from Home Depot. Not a stock item. Have to wait 10 days and pick it up at the store. $7.12
Thank you all for trying to help

I tried that. I need the exact part, or I have to re-do lots of other things. It is not a generic J-trap.

Your coach isn't that old. Any ideas on why a plastic trap would get eaten up like that?

I have no idea? Only the threaded areas are breaking apart. I suspect the material is not the right one for that job?

Get it from Newmar it’s not expensive and buy an extra one. Happened to me and no I couldn’t find a match at the local store.

So, could you please tell us what size the trap is? What did you order. That information would help the next person who runs into this problem.

As for a potential cause, I have seen that happen when the nut is not properly tightened. The connection leaks just enough to let some soapy water get into the threads, setting up a caustic reaction that eats plastic...metal too.

Any Hardware, including Home Depot or Lowes, shoudl have both 1 1/4" (Bathroom sink) and 1 1/2 (Kitchen sink) any hardware.

Look for a kitchen sink trap at yoru local True Value or whatever.

Home Depot adjusts their inventory according to the store location. My local one is big on 1-1/4 but light on 1-1/2 because of the cost. I get them at the local plumbing supply. Ditto a lot of other things that either the plumbing supply or electrical supply has but HD and Lowes do not. OTOH the two home box stores do better at repair parts like sink valve cores. It seems plumbers replace instead of repair.
