Kitchen Slide 2017 DS goes out 2 inches and stops

so the kitchen slide goes out about 2 inches and stops. it goes back in and sounds like cog wheels start skipping instead of just stoping once in. where to start.... we just started our summer trip and are full time in the Coach and this is the first semi major issue we have had. next stop atlanta GA.

A good thread to read will be this one which will give you a good idea what problems can arise with your kitchen slide.
You will need to check the mounting bolts for motor for looseness plus the gear housing, which has many threads in this link among other things.

Dave your slide is moving so the locks are allowing for that it will be a problem with your motor and gear to move a shaft with possible chain drive or cog wheel drive, I would say its mechanical of some type problem..

This thread and several previous ones have all had problems with the kitchen slide motor or bracket. I had to have the motor bracket replaced last year on my 2015 DS because it was twisting and the welds were cracking.

Is there something Newmar has neglected on the kitchen slide motors/brackets that are causing us all problems with our kitchen slides?

Seems more problems with the Kitchen slide motors than the other ones.

We also had to have motor mount brackets replaced on our 15DS. Motor bolts were tight so this was our next weak link. Fast forward to 2019 and now our LA kitchen slide is acting strange, dragging on forward section. Will be in shop next Monday for repairs. Also to note have always been on air when operating slides. Would much rather have this Cog wheel setup than my friends SOB with swhintech slide outs!

My 2013 had plates tear loose from the slide structure. Major repair to fix it. Early signs of problem was elongating of the cog holes.

The primary cause of failure was loose motor brackets that allowed for improper movement

Newmar did the entire repair in late 2013 and never had a problem again.
