Kitchen Slide Bottom Gasket 2017 Bay Star Sport

I own a 2017 Baystar Sport and the gasket between the bottom of the kitchen slide and the top of the floor is binding. The gasket is problematic in about 4’ of the total length of approximately 17’. I’m obviously impacted by outside air intrusion but I’m most concerned about the exposed strip of metal that appears to have been enclosed in the gasket itself but now might bind or damage the floor or other components. I’m inclined to immediately cut and remove this metal strip before damage occurs as a temporary repair. Does anyone have any other ideas with this issue and suggested temporary or permanent repair experience?Click image for larger version

The metal strip is from inside the rubber gasket. It is what attaches/grips the gasket to the frame of the opening. The top gasket on my kitchen slide failed and that strip rusted from the water intrusion. Newmar or your dealer sells it for about $5.00/foot but actually installing is is HARD (due to lack of clearance) and after trying for 4 hours to attach mine, I buckled and took it to the dealer to replace. It is easy if you can get your fingers in to push strain down on the frame. You want to replace it for both water/moisture and bug intrusion protection. Best of luck.

Thanks for your response. Based on your experience, I have scheduled someone to perform this work. You were the only reviewer to respond and it helped a lot.
