Kudos to Progressive Dynamics

I have an external PT-50C. Noticed some dark coating on one of prongs of my 50amp cord. Looking at the PT-50C I saw that the corresponding insert was charred/melted and the contacts had a large gap.

Unit is 3 years old and I treat it gently but something must have caused some arcing.

Progressive has a GREAT replacement program. Send the old one back with a check for $89.95. Get a reconditioned unit in return. And the re-con that I got is the latest style and now includes a weather cover over the plug in point to give additional weather sealing where your cord plugs in.

Sent UPS ground and arrived at Progressive on Monday 12/19. I received the reconditioned unit today 12/23.

OUTSTANDING service.

Burnt plugs are almost always the result of plugging the power cord in with the breaker in the on position. It is like arc welding. However in your defense, if the ped plug is worn out causing a loose connection, that has the same affect. In any case Progressive was not responsible for the damage and indeed does deserve kudos for their customer service.
