Leaky fuel caps

Every time I fuel up, until I get below 1/2 tank, Fuel will leak out of both caps and run down the side of the coach. I clean up the sides, but next time I stop, same mess. Do I have to only fill to 1/2 tank, or it there a better answer? Are the caps vented? Would it case a problem if I sealed the caps better?

Have you checked the fuel vent line, vent tube to cap location and if its hot don't over fill tanks, heat will expand fuel and maybe out your fuel caps.

I can tell you what the problem is,Newmar put vented caps on many motorhomes even though the fuel tank has a vent hose.My 05' dutch star had the leaky caps till i replaced them with non vented caps.Better yet get a set of non vented locking caps at napa to protect your investment in your tank.!!

Had the same problem until I replaced the caps. Did the same as Bigblock, replaced with locking non-venting. Stopped the problem right away.
NAPA Part #703-2614
Slant Part #21591
I used the NAPA caps with matching locks

I replaced my caps with the NAPA locking non-vented caps. I still have leaking after a fill up at least to the first stop which is probably my own fault for filling right up to the top.

Had the same problem, found I had to put caps on really tight, when I did that no leakage. The one click and go strategy doesn't work, need one click passed good an tight!

had the same problem on 2008 ksdp

Called Spartan or Newmar, can't remember which.
They authorized my dealer to "re-bend" the fuel fill lines.

Had the same problem.Newmar put nonvented caps on, After I left the factory in about 2 hours it sounded like a tire blow out. the vent line must have been blocked and the tank oil canned, no damage but it sure made a large bang. They said to go to Spartan and have them pull the tank and fix the vent. Figured after they finished I'd only have more problems. Left the vented caps on place a rag around the cap and change it when it gets oil soaked.

After a fill-up I always stopped after the cap clicked a couple of times thinking that was as tight as it gets. After my last fill-up I followed Spikes advise and clicked it 360 degrees around, no leaks this time.
Thanks Spike!
