LED Conversion

I have a 2007 Mountain Aire with the hi/low halogen puck lamps in the ceiling. I want to convert them to LED, but I also want a “hi/low” function as well. My idea is to modify the 6 volt fuse panel that feeds the 6 volts to the “low” setting of these lights and convert it to 12 volts. That will allow the LEDs to operate on the “low” setting. I would then add dimmer switches to those circuits to create the “low” setting. Has anyone done this and if so, what dimmer switches did you use?

Ah, why don't you skip the electrical engineering and purchase dimmable LEDs... Dimmable LEDs

LEDs do not operate at 6 volts. They do operate down to about 9 volts. My ceiling halogens see 12 volts on high and 6 volts on low. Dimmable LEDs would turn off on the low setting.

I don’t recognize that term. My puck lights are wired with 12 VDC for the high setting and 6 VDC for the low. My fuse panel has a separate 6 VDC feed that comes directly from a 6 volt tap on the house batteries. That 6 VDC section of the fuse panel feeds the “low” switch setting for the lights. I want to convert to LEDs as opposed to halogens but the LEDs won’t operate at 6 volts so my thought was to rewire the 6 volt feed to the fuse panel with 12 volts, but add a dimming control so my “low” setting would be dimmer than the high setting.
