Not worth taking the risk for me.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

X3 always have the correct license. If you don’t and something happens it will be a huge problem for you.

I'm not familiar with Newmar specs but isn't the New Aire 3543 somewhere around 36 feet? If so the OP should have no need to upgrade his California class C license.

Texas

Texas passed a new law for motor homes that you had to have a new class b . Soon after Kansas started checking. The fines were in the thousands.

When was a new law passed, have not heard of any changes. ... I think it is still OVER 26,000 lbs, not length specific.

Could be after 25000 lbs. All I know is I had to take new test both written and drive.

License Requirements?

Here you go. Weight limit also. Had a discussion with CHP at a RV show about length and weight limits.

NY requires an R certification on your license and until now most people never bothered. If you asked most DMV or police you would find few who actually knew about it. That is changing with their new licenses. I just had mine renewed and there is an area that lists if you have an R certification or not.

I have DSDP 4024. It is over 40' and the GVWR is 33200. I read the Kansas requirements and it looked like I would need a class B license. I contacted the state and have a email that tells me that RV's are not included in the rules. So if Kansas is enforcing a class B license whoever doing so is wrong.

Don't believe me? Contact KDOR at KDOR_DC@KS.GOV
