Lippert steps not working

Just bought a 2008 Grand Star 3750 from a dealer who has no knowledge of Class A's. Bought in as is condition. Have figured everything out but the steps will work 4-5 times and then quit. Any ideas? Took back to the dealer who said they worked on a power problem but back to doing the same thing now. These are Lippert steps.

It could be:
Improper lubrication or ;lack of lubrication of the step linkages.
The magnetic door switch is out of alignment.
Poor ground connection (there can be several grounds)
Poor connection at the fuse holders.
Poor electrical connector. Corrosion, bad wire, broken, etc.
Inside switch is faulty.
Bent linkages.
Motor and/or gear box going bad.

As Pete mentioned lube is very important as also grounds to the chassis of coach.
Three ground locations one short green wire from control unit to controls mounting screw, one coming from the door switch to someplace on chassis frame near steps to frame or iron framing near step which will with time get corroded and needs attention to be cleaned up.
One other ground green heavy wire to chassis frame with much protector sealant and usually is not the problem.
Any time working under coach do not put body under stair area or run the risk of being crush by stairs.

You have the enjoyment of a Newmar but you need to know a few things about it, that's the fun of it, take your time and go through the information.
If you have access to 110 outlet plug coach in so the BIRD System can maintain your battery systems, check battery water levels and make sure your battery cut off switch is on so converter can charge the house batteries and chassis battery.

Checked the ground wires and they look good. Lubricated the steps and now they are working again. Hopefully this fixes the problem. Thanks everybody for the help.

Excellent comment Double O Seven! Just the other day I was shimming under the steps area to spray lube into the joints and I said to myself "self, what you are doing is really a dumb thing. If these steps suddenly extend, you will probably lose that gut the hard way"

Also remember, if your hands and arms are entwined inside the step mechanism and the wind blows the door closed and the steps suddenly retract, you could get hurt also.
