LOL at the Dutch Star Prices

Wife wanted to build out another Dutch star. So I priced out a 2023 DS 4326 and came up with just a tick over $550,000 BEFORE special through NIRVC in atlanta (25% off msrp). Get bent.

From 2014 to 2019, (5 years), a Dutch Star went up about $100K. From 2019 to 2023 (4 years) a DS has gone up about $200K. My prediction.....I think they'll produce a bunch in 2023 and then you'll see them heavily discounted on lots later on.

I'm still laughing at the "Get Bent" part. Our 2020 VTDP 4037 would cost us $100K more this year. Glad we bought when we did.

Will be interesting to see. The market is not that large for quality Class A rigs and there is still a lot of disposable income with retiring baby boomers even with the weak stock market and inflation. Meaning they do not have to sell units like auto to do well.

How many Dutch Stars did they sell in 2022?

Makes it an easier decision to keep what I have.

I always keep my eye on the used market and that's been even more humorous than new! 4 to 5 year old units with asking prices tens of thousands more than they originally sold for new.

To each his or her own. Glad I bought my 2013 MA in 2019 before all the craziness started. I see nothing in the new ones that would have me shelling out many hundreds of thousands on top of my coach trade to have a new one.

We just have a class c and I'm happy with the size for the 2 of us. Bought it new in 3017. I was looking at used models like ours and they are selling at more than we paid for ours new!! So I'm really happy we bought when we did. I would not be buying anything right now at these prices.

Same with cars and trucks. We bought a new jeep in July 2020 glad I'm not buying one today.

We're not done with 2022, but all 2022 production will sell if it hasn't already.

I remember when everything went 'down the pan' in 2008/2009 - lots of orders were cancelled, buyers were not willing to finance or lost their source of financing. The market was built on leveraged assets.

Now? I don't know, but I understand the mentality of "I've waited my whole life to retire and go RVing" and many will not let temporary conditions significantly alter their intentions. If they have the coin or credit, those buyers will continue to buy. Some may move down in model group, extras/options, or size, but they're still going to buy.

When I bought my new 2019 London Aire the MSRP was $708,635. A comparable 2023 prices out close to a million bucks at $963,000. That is just crazy.

Bought new in '16, feel like I am in the money today. At times I kinda wish I had gone one or two levels up on coach.

What some people dont seems to consider much is that you can take a coach back to the factory and get quite a few updates / modernizations done. Ive done that a few times and have things in the coach they refused to do back when I ordered it. Keeping them up to date is way less expensive than replacing as long as floor plan and what not works for you.

One other wildly speculative thought. Everything is going up. I assume the higher priced coaches, both Newmar and others, are going up at the same rate. This might drive demand for some buyers out of the near 7 figure coaches to a more affordable Dutch Star thus driving UP demand.

My 2018 had a MSRP of $438K, a 2022 version of the same model is almost 600K. Crazy!

kpecks ... does this mean you are going back to a Dutch Star from the Marathon XL2?
