Looking at 06 Ventana today. Any advice?

Its a 33' with the small Cummins in it (5.9?). Original owner and 27k miles.
Anything Ventana specific to look for? How is that engine with a toad? I drove a 37' Gulfstream with the 5.9 and it seemed a bit weak. Thanks for any thoughts.

Just be sure to feel all the walls. Give a little push with your thumb or palm for soft spots

According to the Newmar website, the unit has the small ISB with 300 HP and left the factory at approximately 22000 Lbs. If the 1 HP per 100 Lbs weight is the rule of thumb, it won't be a burner but will get you there. My Ventana has 360 HP but haven't towed any mountains so can't give a direct answer.

You can certainly do a visual inspection for fit and finish and I recommend that you also check out the roof. Is it fiberglass or the TP style? Run everything and check the date codes on the tires. Anything over 5 years and you will most likely want to replace them. Do they have maintainance records.

If you get the vin or build number, call Newmar customer support and ask about warranty work performed. They're pretty good about that.

If you haven't been on the Newmar website, go look at the brochure and see what features came with the Ventana. Good luck!

Turned out to be a very nice unit with a great owner but it was at the top of my budget and didn't quite wow me. Thanks for the responses.

Our '07 has the '06 chassis & engine and is the same size Ventana. Had 20k miles when purchased 6 years ago. Now has 76k. We'd put probably 45-50k miles on with a motorcycle on a lift, but the last 5-6k towing a GMC Acadia. It has been an excellent machine for us. It does have a Banks system on it, which supposedly boosts the horsepower. As mentioned earlier, it climbs mountains slowly at times, (if you lose momentum there isn't much acceleration), but it has been a solid performer.
In April we drove it coast to coast. The last 1400 miles was straight through with one fuel stop being the only time the engine was turned off (towing the Acadia).
It also has motion control valves and Koni shocks. Had it checked out at Henderson's in Grants Pass in 2016. They gave the chassis a good going over. All it needed was to replace the existing Koni's and have it aligned (minor adjustments).

We have model 3330 and if the floor plans works for you, it is a solid coach. Hope you find something that meets your "wow" factor at the desired price.
