Looking at 2002 Dutch Star
Looking at a private sale here in Denver, CO. We have not seen the MH up close and have only exchanged emails so far. Our plan is to check it out this weekend but am looking for any general opinions on this year/model? Any known issues or things to watch for?
He also sent his Nada Blue Book evaluation sheet:
2002 Dutch Star M-3666-WRKHRS(*) M-3666-WRKHRS(*)

Microwave Oven
Water Heater 10 Gallon Gas/Elec.
TV 19" Color
AM/FM/CD Stereo
DVD Player
Satellite System W/Auto Seek
7 - 8 KW Gas
Hydraulic Leveling System (Manual)

i think you should look at the standard features as some of the listed upgrades are standard equipment....as on any MH you can go to NADA and list standard features as optional to get the price higher...like slide outs if its a certian model the slideouts are just standard and not optional ...and tilt wheel ect....jeff

The NADA is off. First of all with an RV you don't count options. They come pretty much loaded. For example, ever seen a motorhome without a water heater? AC? Furnace? Most all have awnings, and generators. You get the picture. When I run that NADA without options I get this:
Low: $32,013
High: $38,567
I think he's high by about $10,000. That doesn't mean he won't sell it because condition is everything, but I certainly don't think that's a good price by any means. The new tires (if they really are new) are a good selling point.

Welcome to the forum and here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for features on coach.
The fridge has a recall and the brake system had a recall also. The brake system should have been done by now but the fridge Norcold still has problems with their recalls the cooling unit may have been changed hopefully to a Amish unit, some thing that needs to be checked.
Good luck in your quest, just follow up on items mention if taken care of you will have a Newmar if not, the recalls will not cost you, just some aggravation.

I agree that the "options" are not, and that he is probably a bit high for that year, gas and that milage. You could get a diesel for that price or close. Good that he has replaced the tires, although, need to check dates on tires.

Maybe tell the seller you want to buy it without all those bothersome "options".
Price is definitely high for an 11 yr old gasser.
This could be explained by the fact that Colorado recently legalized marijuana. Lotsa things are getting "high" there now.

Wait a minute didn't Washington State just legalize? How do we know your state of MIND when you commented. Just saying I agree its too high for gasser.

Check for soft floors in front of vanity and directly across in front of wardrobe, this is directly over wheels. We had exactly the same model and wheel wells were not properly sealed and replacing these areas was VERY expensive. Outside of that we had ours 10 yrs and loved it.
I also agree they are asking way too much for this unit.

We have a 2002 DS and love it, the big difference is ours is a DP so I don't know much about the gasser's. I would say ours has good quality and drives great,Newmar is a good company, nice people Jim
