We are not aware of Newmar ever using chain drive for slides. When taking the Newmar tour they show the cog wheel assembly as there 1st drive for all slide outs. Just toke the Newmar long tour about two weeks ago and the tour guide stated that Newmar is still using the cog wheel assembly they used when 1st started doing slide outs. Would be interested in hearing about the chain drive. Newmar had a lot of 1st time problems when switching to the HWH full wall assembly slide system. There are still Newmar diesel and gas coaches that use the dual motor drive for their full wall slide. DS up have had HWH slide control on full walls since 2016.
If you take the plastic cover off on the kitchen slide you can see the motor, drive assembly and plate for cog wheel to drive slide in and out.

l was wondering how you getting to the motors thanks for the answer.
As far as chains they didn't last long, if such a thing, will look for that thread.
Yes the cog wheels and rails have been around since the start of slides by Newmar.
Only answer I need is your two motor operation the "two guided bolts" both ends of slide, that I know are on other year coach's.

Not sure of your question as to what to look for "two guided bolts". Where would I see those guided bolts?

You may not have them because of your two motor slide just checking, thanks for the picture of motor was wondering how you got to it, its the first time I have seen this type kitchen slide.

I see no guide bolts on our 18 London Aire on the kitchen slide. Newmar did cover the slide out motors with black plastic covers which looks better but really a problem for owners to check if 4 bolts are tight on motor. The other issue with the new system is the bolts have been downsized to 5/16 from 3/8. Again when I checked these bolts within 6 months of new all the bolts were loss.

007, attached are photos of the kitchen slide motors with a DSC100 dual motor controller for a 2016 Dutch Star 4369. Not sure if this is information you were looking for.
I'm headed out next week for a trip and was checking the bolts before we left so I decided to take a few photos while I had the covers off.

This is my kitchen slide proximity switch. The actuator is clamped to the shaft. It signals the controller that the slide is in and begins the "lock cycle"'. It's a flat piece of metal bent into an "L" and swings in front of the white magnetic switch.

We may want to differentiate drop/flush floor from raised floor.

Since you are writing about Newmar slide systems, here is a picture of the brass rotating sleeve sink drain connector and flexible drain hose in the kitchen slide of a 2004 MADP 4016. Don't know if that is in your purview, but thought I would post it because it is something that makes a kitchen slide work.

Excellent pictures, Tom, Bruceisla, rodekyll, Fatchance, are very useful, Bruce you need two wire nuts on spliced wires and yes raised floor would be the older kitchen slides like roadkyll and my 98 KSCA 3765, not sure if in later years Bruce, Fatchance like your picture I have a video of operation of hose and flex piping to add to it.
See nothing of chain driven KS all cog wheels so far, will look thru old threads if their was such a operation of the KS's.
Thanks all for your help will be building the thread soon not sure making all one thread on all type slides or brake down off, regular slides, kitchen slides and FWS's, thought's from you all.

Yup ... they were off for switch adjustment.
And...Essex 4502 has the kitchen floor raised/flat. Dining and couch are on drop-down.

Why does your kitchen slide have a raised floor on passenger side for access to motor and shaft cog wheel operation?
Can you access motor from floor of kitchen cabinet or from under slide in lower compartment?

I assume you are asking me. We have 4 slides. Pass/bedroom and Livingroom/driver are drop floor. Bedroom/driver and kitchen (loveseat/sink/cooktop) are flat floor. Reefer is in a non-moving alcove.
Kitchen slide motor is on a trans/coupler shaft located in basement cabinet 2nd from front. Accessible while sitting on a stool. In my picture of the switch, the motor is about 2 feet rearward (left in picture).
