Looks like I get to replace floor plywood under a slide.

So, I am diligent about watching for leaks or any chance of water getting into the coach. Last week I got it out of storage and was getting it ready for a trip to western Kansas when the rear bedroom slide wouldn't go out evenly and got hung up on the left side. As I got to looking it appeared that the slide is sagging on the left side so I did manage to get it out be rocking it.

Saturday we decided to tackle the problem and found a rotted floor on the left side. The rollers that the slide rail rides on has dropped enough that the slide rail catches on the lip of the outer trim and won't allow the slide to go out.

We managed to make adjustments enough for the slide to function but it's obvious we are going to have to remove the slide and replace the flooring under that side.

I'm not sure where to start on that. I was looking at wheter to remove all the trim on the outside of the slide and push it into the coach to get to the damaged flooring or take the inside trim off and remove the slide completely.

As far as we can tell the damage is about a 2'X2' area right at the edge of the outside wall. Just enough for the rollers to sag.

The bathroom is directly next to the area and doesn't seem to have any weak spots so I am hoping this is all I have to do.

Has anyone removed a slide and what did you do to get the inside trim off to make the repairs.

This is a '04 DSDP 4024 with four slides.

FWIW, we can now see water damage to the wall paneling down low that wasn't there when we parked it. It has been raining quite a bit lately and that area is dry. We did reseal the top of the slide and looked on the roof for any damage and didn't find anything. The ceiling doesn't show any signs of water damage. It looks like there might have been a leak around the slide seal itself even though the seal looks good.

My 2008 Mountain aire has the same problem but at the rear corner. Looks like a major ordeal to fix. Please update this thread if you figure out how to do it.

I didn't have to replace flooring under a slide out but I had to replace a 6'X4' opposite side.

If your roller is mounted in the floor then you will probably have to replace a larger area so that the edges of the new piece align to the structure underneath. Some of my rollers are mounted in the floor from underneath and some are in the slide. Mine is not a flat floor slide.

In my case I had metal tubing running side to side, can't remember the spacing but it was more then 16" C-C. I had to cut out to where the edge lined up to the tubing. My flooring was a double layer of 5/8" OSB, it crumbled when I started to remove it, I had go until I got to good flooring. I replaced with 3/4" pressure treated plywood, I painted with and exterior primer before putting down. I then used a piece of exterior siding, which was a very dense hard material and had a 50 year guarantee. My flooring did not go under the side wall so it was easy for me to remove.

If you flooring doesn't go under your side wall I would think you can remove/replace without removing the slide. You will have to get creative on cutting the old out, possibly a reciprocating saw with long blade.
