The mounting screws on the grab handle by the MH door have become loose and
I cannot tighten them. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem and how they solved the problem.

I see about 3/8" of wood backing the fiberglass sidewall that I can screw them into so I do not think I should use a Molly type solution as the wall would be pretty weak to suppoert a person if their whole weight were to be applied to the handle.

The best suggestion I have received so far is to use a backing plate but how do I do this with Newmar's wall construction??

Ideas/Solutions??

No molly or toggle bolts.

Coat the screws with epoxy and inject some into the hole. Insert the screw and "tighten" until it just slips. Let dry. You're all set. You should be able to break out the screw if you need to remove it, worst case you might need to drill it out.

Another approach is to inject epoxy into the hole use tape on outside to hold it in while it dries. The thicker gel epoxies are better in this use. When dry re-drill the hole. Use a new self-tapping type screw with some silicone grease or bar-soap on it as a lubricant to cut new threads into the epoxy. Good as new.
