Low DEF level

I know that I am having DEF gauge issues. My dash gauge is displayed below. It matches the gauge on the actual tank. I just put 9 gallons in about 600 miles ago, so I'm not low.

My question is will my engage stop based on this meter reading or wait until it actually has no fluid? I getting ready to leave for Houston and want to make sure I'm not going to stop mid-trip. I'll stop and top it off along the way.

Thanks.

I don't see a DEF gauge. That says it's the diesel fuel level the way I read it.

"Use Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel Only" Doesn't mention DEF.

It is the amber single light at the bottom. It is low when amber. There should be 4 green bars showing if the tank were full.

It does seem like your DEF usage is high. I checked my records and seem to get about 2000 miles from 5.5 gallons of DEF. I generally figure one bar per tank for estimation purposes and fill up every third fill.

We had the coach at Freightliner for an unrelated item and they checked the DEF usage at that time. They said the usage was right on spec.

At the same time they also remapped the engine. It made the engine seem to run better and the mileage went up noticeably. The mechanic said he recommended the mapping be checked every couple years.

Do you see the one amber light in the middle bottom? That is the DEF gauge.

I called FL and they said as long as there is DEF fluid being injected, the engine will not stop.

You need to have Freightliner check your "in the tank" DEF gauge. This is a warranty item. I had a similar problem except my dash gauge never moved from the FULL mark. Simple warranty fix but Freightliner has to do it.

I'm always keeping my DEF topped off because once, it was flashing RED with I believe a DEF Low message (my heart always goes into pounding mode when something is flashing on my dash besides my turn signals). I knew that someone was amiss since it was full only 120 miles prior when I left my house. I stopped the engine at a rest stop and turned it back on and then it gave me an accurate reading.
