OK, I have the 2007 350HP engine. What do I need to do about the new Diesel? Do I need additives, nothing, random shots of vodka (Engine not me..)? Not sure what I supposed to be doing.

Just drive the coach, fill it up with fuel and when ya stop and shut 'er down.....open the Vodka!!

No additives needed for the coach, you and Bonnie might be a different story!

Bob is correct. Just enjoy.

Cummins doesn't recommend additives for any of their engines.

However, I recommend Grey Goose for the occupants.

It's an excellent additive that will make you as smooth as that new engine.

Has anyone heard of a fuel pump seal problem caused by the low sulfur diesel?? I ask the question because of a discussion with a 2003 DSDP owner who was at Coach Care in Eugene Oregon with a fuel pump seal problem allegedly caused by Low Sulfur Fuel. Cummins was picking up the cost.

Granted this may be only a matter of samantics....but to be clear.....Nathan should be using ULTRA LOW Sulpher Diesel IF he has a 2007 emmission compliant engine. The product known as LOW SULPHER diesel is the "old" stuff and it will cause problems for the new 2007 engines.

As for the question about ULSD causing problems for the older engines, Cummins has said it should not, but that they will consider any issues that may arise as warrantable. ED

I talked to a Cummins Tech from a certified Cummins Warranty shop about the ULS fuels causing problems with the fuel pumps. His answer was the fuel would not cause any problems!!!

In his experience there was some fuel pump problems with the 5.9s but not the 8.3s or 8.9s.

My fuel pump leaked on my ISM and was replaced entirely. I did notice that the original pump gasket was black while the replacement was mounted using a pink gasket.

You must use ULSD fuel so be alert a stations to be sure the label on pump says its ULSD. No additives as stated.

With the pre '07 engines just drive it-no additives, no special fuel, good in Mexico, Canada, etc.

I was told that the first engines to use the low sulfur fuel would start with the 2008 Ventana and All Star. Kountry Star and higher for 08 would still use the other engine. 09 would start the new engines for all models.

They said that quota was filled with those models and that the change wouldn't affect the others until the next model year. Something to do with a certain % of units needing the low sulfur seal but not the rest.

Not sure how true it is but what a dealer told me while we have been shopping.

There is gong to be some confusion, on the owner's part, about which engine they have. It is best to call Cummins, with your engine serial number and ask them. They may also be able to tell you if you provide your VIN #.

At this time I think all diesel stations sell only ULSD (the new fuel). I used only the J for fuel on the big summer trip and ULSD is all I saw.

The term ULSD is easy to remember. Just remember LSD (if you can) and put a U in front of it. Those who grew up in the 1960's should understand this bit of dry humor.

For those who have engines requiring ULSD fuel, consider not leaving the USA (Mexico or Canada) until you are sure of ULSD's availability.
