My '00 Dutch Star Suburban SW10DE water heater will only heat to a "lukewarm" level with both the propane and electric "on" at the same time. All switches are energized and voltmeter shows that power is being supplied to the element and the T-Stat Switches. When I turn on the water faucets I get an initial "hot" water then it immediately goes to "lukewarm". Also, do most rv'ers use only gas or electric or both? This condition started on my last two uses of the rv. Prior to that the water heater worked fine. Any advice would be appreciated.

BillArf and siggyd,

Where would I find the "Hot and Cold faucet knobs"? Are they the two knobs coming out of the water heater that are to the left of the outside shower knobs if you are looking at the dump station aluminum panel?

Thanks for working with me on this problem.

I think that they are referring to, your outside shower faucet knobs, if your cold knob is open and the shower head dial is closed the cold water will go thru the faucet and mix with hot side of faucet. Your by-pass valve is near the HW heater and is partially open it will cause same condition thru water heater winter bypass setup.

When I said the bypass valve may be open a little, I meant the valve that goes between the inlet and outlet of the waterheater in/under the kitchen cabinet(in my case).Of course the inlet and outlet valves of the waterheater must!!! be open, just look at the waterheater from the inside.

Try pulling the anode and flush out the tank. We did and found a lot of mineral sediment in the bottom of the tank. The anode was worn out and was replaced. Perfomance improved dramatically.
