Magnum Invertor Help

Hello everyone,

We have a magnum invertor and battery charger in our Newmar Dutchstar 2007. It doesn't charge in Float mode or Automatic, it only charges in Bulk mode. Does anyone know what could be the reason?

You need to first verify you have known good batteries by getting them load tested. Only then can you perform reliable trouble shooting of the rest of the DC system.

On our magnum, the charger has to go through the bulk, absorb, float phases by itself.

I think it switches to absorb when certain criteria like voltage is met.

Absorb can be programmed to last a certain amount of time, before going into float.

Like the previous poster said, bad batteries might not take a charge, and have the voltage rise enough, to go into the other phases.

It may be normal for the inverter to not charge during the float stage based on the batteries have reached the programmed SOC (state of charge setting) or the absorb cycle has completed. On our Magnum inverter, after the absorb cycle has completed, the charger will deactivate and will not start again until the voltage drops below the level we have set in the programming.

Contact magnum... they were helpful with me. Mine was "stuck" on Absorb. Magnum had me reset it and also had me unplug and replug in the remote .... after that, it's been working as expected... going thru all 3 phases as appropriate.
