Major upgrade to electrical system on 18 London Aire

After going to the Newmar Gathering in Quartzsite for 6 days of dry camping and finding out how weak our electrical system was there we made some major up grades. With Solar Energy Systems being in Quartzsite for the Gathering and their knowledge of Newmar motor homes and being from Nappanee, we spent 5 days getting some of the best equipment for our LA. We started of with 6 210 what solar panels along with 1100 AMP's of Lithium batteries and topped it of with a Vitron hybrid inverter/converter. We now can run are middle AC/Heat Pump without using the generator when traveling. We tried and it works to run 3 AC from 30AMP plug in service as long as we don't run anything else. They did a outstanding job and we were one of numerous other Newmar owners getting much of the same upgrades as we had done. We are now ready for dry camping and not plugging the coach in to shore power when storing if we don't want to.

There is a 26% tax for the complete system. Again this isn't a tax deduction but a 26% reduction of federal income tax owed for that solar cost. There was also a 10% sales tax from the city of Quartzsite which was the biggest issue with the total cost. The complete system was 24K.
After using jumper cables a couple times to start the gen, which we had to run as much as 18 hours a day we were ready for the big change. We are a rest stop tonight because of severe winds and we just used the system to run the center heat pump to heat the coach along with Oasis and no gen. A lot of money but a big upgrade. Using the center A/C this summer along with excellent dash A/C will be good till around 100 degrees. A lot of work and money but the London Aire has just moved up another notch. With the paint change there isn't another LA like this one.
After looking at RVVTrader 18 LA asking 550K it's a keeper.

Woa Tom C. I am a little envious but not 24K worth. We were out there in our DS with the stock batteries and ours never required more than 5-6 hours of gen run time a day to keep things going. I did use the AGS successfully which is a little PIA because of how it's set up on these rigs. I helped many folks out there helping them understand how to set up and use the AGS. The main thing that people forget about the AGS is that if you turn on or off the generator manually while AGS is enabled, you must reenable the AGS each time. I can't wait until the day that we don't have diesel pushers any longer and they become electric pushers and we can use the same battery pack for all our electric needs as well. We may still need a generator, however, just in case!

So what does that mean if you don't owe federal tax? Just joking. Don't answer that.

For those who don't have any Federal tax( who that would be I don't know) the government would give you and refund spread out over a couple years. For many many reasons we are still glad we went with this complete solar system.

That's one of the companies we've considered when we get our next new Newmar. I have told the upper management of Newmar what I thought about their under productive/over priced "factory installed" solar.

Looks close but check the graphics, ghosting and graphics on the awning covers and then you will see the differences. Have 6 different colors with 8 coats of clear. Think you might have seen our LA repaint and then changed yours.

it is the original $600 custom paint from newmar production back in 2016. thats why there are 4 colors and no awning coverage. they did a fine job. only wished they would not use the cheap vinyl covers for the wheelwell/fenders., which are now starting to peel off.
