Manual Dump

Told someone to hit auto level on DSDP. They accidently hit manual dump. I did not notice how low the coach was until I went in to remove key from ignition. Tried auto level and system just blinked. It was showing level via my 3' manual level so I just lowered jacks manually until touching. I do realize if we would have been on an uneven site the steps would have been crushed. Two questions
1) What is manual dump for?

2) Did it hurt to level in this mode, MH looked much better (As in lower to ground) than in normal auto leveling?

No problem. You just hit the "Auto Air Dump". This just lets all the air out of the suspension. Actually, if the ground is level I prefer doing just that. As far as the auto level (Hydraulic), it will deflate the suspension some what and then deploy the jacks. If you have air level, it must be selected from normal ride height. If you are aired down fully and want to air level (If so equipped) it will first have to be aired up again.
But no, you have done nothing that would hurt the rig.

Manual dump gives you the option to dump the air from your air springs without using the automatic leveling function. Some use it to get into a low garage opening or just to 'kneel' the RV when parked.

I can't think of any harm you would do using the manual dump option. Of course you shouldn't drive in this lowered condition, it isn't aligning drive shaft properly and trying to turn could cause front wheels to hit fenders. There's always the possibility of the steps hitting, especially at curbs or timbers lining a campsite. Always visually check before dumping air.

If you have dumped manually and then hit "auto level" the light will blink because it has started the dump timer. As you have no air in the bags you will hear nothing until the timer expires and the jacks start to lower.

If I need to use my jack pads, I will manually dump the air, position the pads, manually lower the jacks to allow centering of the pads then auto level. Have done this for 10 years with no problems.
