Manual Shade Fail
Went to open the manual shade over the door window this morning, heard a “rat, rat, tat” and the blind now wont roll up. Got the blind assembly out but not sure these are repairable. No markings or identification on it either.
Are these repairable or do you just buy a new one? If buy, what source?
Thanks in advance for all replies.

The screen in the door was a pain from day one.
Since we never saw a need to roll up the screen, I used 3M mounting tape down both sides of the screen and haven't had any problems since. It always looks neat and orderly now. Hope this helps.

I was talking about the solid roller blind that you pull down to block light coming in through the door window on our Canyon Star. Been searching threads Here and it appears to be a throw away item. Now to find a replacement...

I don't know what brand they're using in the Canyon Star, but in the Dutch Star, it's an MCD shade. The MCD shades are repairable. The ends come off and there is a replaceable mechanism inside. For most shades there are only three lengths of the internal mechanism. I keep one of each a s a spare. I had two that didn't work right and MCD sent me the mechanisms. They're plastic/nylon and should be inexpensive, even if MCD charges for them. They've sent me a few for free.

We had Auto Motion dual roller shades in our 2014 CSCA. Had to replace the roller spring assemblies in 6 of them. The all broke the same way
I got replacement roller spring assemblies here: https://www.braddandhall.com/Product...idcategory=111

The manual MCD shade internals look just like the ones "Cenfl" posted for the Auto Motion shades. Like I said, there are only a few sizes of the replacement parts, which will fit all their shade lengths.

Took my shade apart yesterday, looks just like the parts linked above. Will measure the length and give both places a call and get a replacement.
Thanks again for the help..

Tip....When you look at the mechanism that you're replacing, you'll see that it's adjustable. I try to center the adjustment (threaded) before installing. Once installed, I wrap the shade material around the roller so that when you reinstall, the shade is rolled UP. This seems to give you more adjustment when you set the drop length and roll up tension.

Not trying to be a smart (you know what) which list would longer on your coach. The things you haven't fixed or the things you have fixed?
Thank for passing your knowledge along!

I've owned an RV since I was 21, starting with a Lance Camper. I've pretty much done every repair, every RV I've ever owned has needed, because I'm cheap and I don't trust repair shops ( I worked for a crook when I was a teenager). Consequently, the list of what I've repaired is much longer, as my ADD doesn't allow things to sit broken for long.

Don,
Thanks for the tip. I am traveling home today and will be working on this next week. Broken stuff drives me nuts too.

Contacted Bradd and Hall today. Need the 18.125” replacement spring assy. Unit cost is $30 plus S&H. Customer Svc (Stephanie) was very helpful. Should get the parts in a few days. FYI, apparently these are Auto Motion Shades.

Received new spring assembly. Install was straight forward. Adjustment took a few tries to figure out. All good now. FYI, Bradd and Hall shipping is UPS, next day (pricey). Would be nice to have the option of cheaper shipping if you are not in a big hurry for the item. Overall, easy project.
