Matt Miller approached Winnebago - HEARSAY HAS IT
From the hearsay I heard....
Matt Miller approached Winnebago - Winnebago did not approach Matt Miller.
Evidently when Matt took over the company from his father, Mahlon gave (or they had) interest (I assume stock) in the company.
Something about Matt's siblings wanting to cash out & Matt approached Winnebago as a way to retain control running Newmar & raise the money to take care of the siblings.
AS I SAID, THIS IS ALL HEARSAY FROM BUILDING 42 NAPPANEE.
I, personally, don't see any major changes in the day to day operation of Newmar in the near future. Any changes we see in the near future probably were scheduled to happen anyway. So don't go reading into something that isn't there.
You can google the local news statement that Matt gave the day the news broke. He made it sound as if nothing is changing & he is still going to be running the company.
As long as Matt Miller is running the day to day operations at Newmar, I am not concerned.
I have no concerns about buying another Newmar coach either next week or next year or 5 years from now.

I suspect this information is probably correct, or very close to it. With Mahlon Miller approaching 80, the family needs to plan for the future.
At some point, Mahlon's estate comes into play and distribution will need to be made. It would be one thing if all the heirs wanted to be actively involved in running a major RV manufacturing operation. Since that's apparently not the case...and no criticism intended here...distributing the estate proceeds becomes a serious financial issue.
Let's give the Miller family their due here and allow them to plan for an orderly transition to the next generation. It really is not all about us...the Newmar coach owners...it is about a good, decent family doing what's best for the entire family.

Another thread on this? Please no...just add to the existing discussion.
Yes, it is already known, or heard, that MM did go to WB because he wanted this to happen while his father was still alive. The end.

What, no griping, or “what’s this going to do to me?” That's a refreshing breath of fresh air, Jim. Well said, especially the last sentence.

I personally spoke with Matt, and the “rumor” from building 42 is accurate. The family always planned on selling before Mahlon passed away, so he could help with the transition. Mahlon’s brother died in February, and that made the family realize Mahlon wouldn’t be around forever. Matt approached Winnebago because they had a similar culture. They could have sold to another for more money, but selling to Winnebago would continue the family business. Newmar will keep its brand, Matt will continue as CEO, and the future is bright for Newmar.

I felt the same way after page 5 of the other thread, but it keeps on going.

Is Earl D. Miller of Mishawaka, Indiana a member of the Newmar family. Several days ago their was a story that he owed $5.2 million for some Amish investment schemes that were problematic.

Why did you post this? If YOU don't know specifically that there is a connection here, then posting this garbage just serves to smear someone.

Old saying “not my monkeys, not my circus”.
Translate: This is Matt’s decision. You don’t like it, don’t buy newmar. What would you do if you were in charge, guess what; you’re not in charge.
Ok some positive stuff. Control what you are in control of, don’t worry about the other stuff. Your choice. Live life without stress or stress yourself into an early grave.
BTW, saw Matt at a local watering hole tonight. Living life and enjoying. God Bless and enjoy your hard work, you deserve it!
Ok let’s all get on with our own life’s and quit trying to control others.
