Maxair vent cover with Fantastic Fans
Just ordered two original Maxair covers before reading they are not recommended for Fatastic fans on our 2017 BS. No explanation why. Has anyone used them without issues?

https://www.campingworld.com/dometic...id=vent-covers Looks like Dometic makes this "ultrabreeze" that they advertise has better air flow than the MaxAir. We put the MaxAirII on our Bay Star and have no issues. Of course I didn't do a scientific air flow test. We just didn't like not being able to use the fan in the bathroom when it is raining.

We have them on two Fantastic vents on our 2018 Mountain Aire and have experienced no issues. Would have one on the third vent, but the raised ceiling in the rear bath would make it stick up above the awning side rails. Didn't want the increased external height; 13'2" is tall enough!

I see that both the Dometic Fantastic and Maxair II are an inch taller and wider. That would probably allow the vent lid to fully extend. That is probably why the MaxAir standard model is not recommended for our fantastic vents. Thank you

As I think about it, I believe we had the Max-Air II version installed. Sorry for misleading you. When you mentioned the difference, it rang a bell.

We have those installed on our Winnie with a Fantastic Fan. I’m not sure if it is a factor, but the FF does not seem to create the same amount of air flow as our previous Maxx Fan. Maybe I’ll remove the cover and see if the FF works better.

I also had this debate with myself two years ago and decided on the Fantastic fan cover... They make a good argument for it in this video.

Are the Maxxair II's easier or harder to install than the Fantastic Fan cover?

I cannot speak to the current Maxxair’s, but the FF covers were not hard to install. Plus they have four cotter pins that can be easily removed to allow you to remove the cover and clean underneath when needed. Some covers I have had in the past had screws.

I put the MaxAir II on our rear F-fan last year. I was probably only up on the roof for 20 minutes, easypeasy. Like richpatty said, they attach with pins/keys so they are very easy to remove and clean.
I took height measurements to make sure I wasn't going past my 12'10". While on air the top of the MaxAir II cover is almost the exact same height as the OEM satellite dome on the front of the coach.

I also have the Max-Air ll. They are approved for installation over High output fan vents. Max-Air is not

We just added Max-Air IIs to our Ventana. The tech said 'no' to the original Max-Air. I just assumed it was a clearance issue.
