MCD power shades
There was a thread from 2016 where the feedback was positive. But given this is now a ~$4k list option, would you buy it again if you were doing a factory order? Seems pricey for the value gained but I’d love to hear more current thoughts and opinions.

are the electric shades not standard equipment on a Dutch Star?
They were a couple years ago.

Not per the build sheet I did yesterday. Maybe new for 2021?

Our Bay Star has two manual shades for the side windows and a power shade for the windshield. They are really great. We were fortunate that the previous owner installed them, and they are pricey!

They were an option on the 2019 DS. When we did our PDI our tech asked if we had them. When he learned we didn’t have them he commented, “Thank God that’s one problem you won’t have.” The only power we have is the windshield. Between the two of us we have them up or down in about 20seconds. It would probably take us that long to find the remote. 🤣

We have all power shades with 2 remotes in our 2017 DS & they were standard equipment. I am surprised to hear that they are now an option in a Dutch Star.
NEVER had any problem with the MCD Power Shades so I don't know why your tech made that comment. Newmar has been using them in every coach from the Dutch Star & up for years.

I would never get them again. The single biggest problem is the driver side shade, that serves as your sun visor while driving, can not be adjusted while driving. You have to stop and turn off the ignition to adjust it.
If there was a work around to this problem I like them other than the price. You can manually move a lot of shades for $4K.

It’s hard to answer whether that price is worth it, but I can say that we really enjoy the power shades in the coach. We bought a 2019 Dutch Star 3717 off the lot and they came with the coach. This floor plan has a lot of windows, which is really nice, but we make the comment every time we open or close all the shades that we really like that they are powered. You can open/close all at once or control them individually. We really like them.

After having manual shades on our previous coach, the power shades are great!
We can open or close them all at once or adjust them separately.
The drivers side shade took some getting used too but now we adjust it before we leave.
I would recommend them highly unless the $4k is the issue

Over all price isn’t really the issue. At ~$450K list this is almost a rounding error. So it won’t stop us from ordering or not. However $4K is still not chump change and if folks were “meh” about it we’d probably skip.
We will hopefully get to see a 2019 3717 shortly (although in Ventana trim). But they have a 3736 DS on site too.
I figure the more questions I ask before we order the less surprised I’ll be when our custom coach show up
