Thanks Also the motors, (2 different ones,) are either controlled by remote or a manual switch. For example, the mid-bath and the master bath would not work on our remote windows.
Good luck with your fix

Regrettably, haven't had the time to complete my project; however, did manage to move one of my bedroom shade motors to my driver's side night shade. And, it's working well. Didn't know better, but learned that the end of the motor that fits into the tube is different and had to replace it with the end of the bad motor...easy job and must be done. Planning to use my newly purchased white motor with 15-channel remote in the master bath, where the night shade motor is bad.

Actually you don't have to swap out anything between the two motors. Watch the MCD video on it. Slight position difference but same basic install. Wire position is a bit different but brackets will still work with new motor.

Ted, in my case the bedroom nightshade motor I used for the replacement was installed and did nothing but "slip', going neither up or down. When I removed it from the tubing I saw clearly the problem...the original motor end has a "groove", enabling it to ENGAGE within the tubing, whereas the BR motor end DOES NOT, which prohibits it from engaging. I had neither read nor seen anything to caution against this "unfortunate" mistake.

Larry, I'm surprised because I used two bedroom motors, both from my dresser window, and both works fine with the exchanged kitchen and desk window night shade. There is a certain way they must be inserted when going into the tube. When I find the video from MCD I'll post it here as well.

Here's the video to change out the white motor to the newer red.

Thanks, Ted...good and helpful video. I knew the motors were a bit tricky and called for patience while inserting them. Seems there shouldn't be a "wrong" way to insert, but that if it inserts without forcing, it has to be correct??? Not so, obviously. Another question, Ted...can these motors be tested by connecting to the +/- poles of a fully charged 12-volt battery? Appreciate your fine help, Ted.

Great question... I'm sure they could be. Mine would work then not work on the two I replaced. Still have one of them so when I get back home I'll give it a shot.

I'd hate to think, Ted, that many "good" motors are discarded, believing them to be bad. In my several conversations with MCD techs over the years, they've seemed a bit quick in "declaring them dead". Perhaps it's generally a good assumption?

I thought I'd wake up this thread. My drivers window night shade motor died . In looking at my receipt book, I replaced it in 2016. What they sent me was a 50.174. From what I seem to read here, there is no replacement available and that I'd need to replace motor(s) and the wireless remote ?? I have a call into MCD and awaiting call back
