MCD Shades Fell Out of Brackets

During our last trip, within days of each other, both of our MCD front shades fell out of the bracket. The problem was that the shades did not roll up evenly and created a "cup" on one end of the shade which eventually pushed it out of the bracket. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? We had the shades installed by MCD about 3 years ago. To me this seems like an engineering or installation issue.

I would certainly call MCD first and give them an opportunity to address this issue. We've had our MCD's about 4 years and only one problem, needed a new clip on a side window, they sent it right out to me and wouldn't take any money! They don't drop you after the sale like some companies do. Good luck with your issue.

I have already talked with them and have an appointment to get it repaired, at $95 an hour. I will be having a talk with them on that subject.

Mike if you would go into this link you will find all TSB's for your coach, you may or may not have one for your problem.

Do not forget the arrows at the bottom of each page, your older coach has at least 3 pages, I found.

yes, I hear you on that labor cost. We budgeted $95 an hour for our full RV installation, so figured about 8 hours labor. They had it done in 1.5 hours. Believe me, I found a use for that extra cash. Still cheaper than CW's $135.00 per hour and most shops at over $100 per hour. Our windshield provided a challenge for them, they had to figure out how to put 2 shades in a one shade track. They figured it out, only took 30 minutes to install!

It's not that I mind paying to get something fixed. My issue is that I shouldn't be having to fix it if they did their part correct the first time.

How much of a warranty are you expecting? The install was good for three years of bouncing down the road... Id say they lived up to their bargain financially.

Actually, if they had fallen due to "bouncing down the road", it wouldn't bother me. The issue is that the shades are not rolling up evenly and I don't really expect that to happen.

Mmmmm . . . my original string shades were still working after a decade of bouncing when I replaced them with MCDs.

Of the 7 MCDs installed about three years ago, one has to be clamped down so it won't keep rolling up, and two others need constant adjustment.

Took my 2005 MT. Aire to MCD in Texas in 2013 for new cockpit shades, Made it to Austin TX. Driver shade completely fell out and the windshield curtain dropped 3 in.. Not a happy camper! Called MCD and they gave me 2 options, since I was continuing to N.O. they said I could take it to a dealer in La. or come back to the factory. Ended up cutting my vacation short and returning to factory. They fixed the problem without an apology and sent me on my way! Very disappointed in the service but loved the product, but then again anything was better than the pleated shades !

Is it possible that the programming switch get caught in the shade? That is the only time in 8 years a shade bunched up instead of rolling up right.
