MCD vs AMS house day and night shades??

My 2006 DSDP has pleated shades and we keep re-stringing and re-striinging - Got a quote from Classic CoachWorks in Lakeland - they do not do MCDs anymore and install AMS (auto motion shades) from Canada (my Country(!) For around $4,500 I can get 8 electric and 1 manual duo-shades. Price high I think

I searched for MCDs to see if someone in Florida installed them....found out that Lazydays had them but they don't work often on Newmars and my last visits were so and so

Any help from Newmar owners that have switched their house shades (not the cockpit, which has what I need)...thanks

We had MCD install dual shades for us in Texas in June 2012 and we love them! We got them everywhere but the cockpit, and the house portion shades are motorized, but not the bedroom. They weren't inexpensive, but worth the price. We fulltime and love to be able to open or close the shades by pushing one button. Go to their website and you can easily figure an estimate for your coach. One bonus we didn't know about--they turned our bedroom into a cave! No more light interference at all!

Not many posts on the AMS shades in whole forum, only one other and he did not get an answer.
If you Google there is a RV remodel company on west coast that may give you a quote for your job to compare with your price quote.

I had Classic Coach install the AMS throughout my MH last year. Mine are manual. I have the AMS motorized on the windshield that FW installed. I am totally satisfied.
Here are more links to IRV2 threads on AMS.

Thanks Clifftall

Expect to have them (both manuals in bedroom and bathroom and electric up front - house only) installed at Classic Coach Works, Lakeland - meeting the Rep in Naples in 10 days. They are a Canadian product with not many people installing them, it appears.

Newmar uses AMS, instead of MCD shades in their high line coaches unless an alternative shade is custom ordered. Personally I like MCD's deluxe fabric choices much better than what Newmar is currently using in the King Aire.

We had MCD American Duo shades installed throughout our coach in 2010. Pricey yes, especially with their top of the line fabric, but worth it, IMHO.

Renden - I can't speak on the shades, but as far as Classic goes I was very satisfied with their work. **Warning** They are a family run business so sometimes it's hard to get a hold of them. The Mother, Father and Son take care of all the estimating and planning. The work though IMHO is top notch and they stand behind it. They got all the work we wanted done, and got it back to us when they promised even though they had to keep a couple of guys late to get it done.

Thanks for the positive comments....If Newmar uses AMS in their top lines, it means something and I agree - will let you know after the installations in April

Renden - any update on your AMS shades?

I noticed that Tiffen is using AMS in their Phaetons that I saw at The Rally in Syracuse.
