I'm now working with a dealer that's 3 hours away instead of just 1.5 hours away. Hopefully with a little competition, the price will come down.

Koogler's, the one I'm talking to now, doesn't sell the Allstar line, but they can order Ventanas.

Right off the bat one guy at Koogler's said he could give me 25% off the Allstar I considered. He didn't realize I said Allstar, so this must be his standard first offer.

I caught him just as he had arrived and just gave him the MSRP with options. He said if that's the MSRP, I can do $X. X was MSRP x .75.

Koogler's came up with an initial offer that's 25.6% off MSRP for ordering a 2009 Ventana.

Their price is only $500 more than Beckley's best offer on their 2008 that has fewer options.

I've asked Beckley's if they can beat that price. Obviously they'd have to come WAY down on that 2008 for me to even consider it.

I also asked Koogler's to see if Newmar will do hydraulic jacks and electric slide locks on a Ventana. They're not available as options, but these 2 things should be very simple.

I know someone said Newmar wasn't doing specials on Ventanas, but these are really simple.

Newmar did a long list of specials on our 2008 Ventana, doubt that they changed the policy for 2009. We found them very helpful when it came to specials, seemed willing to do most anything that was within any of the other product lines as long as no re-engineering was required.

I'm afraid that rumor may be my fault, it is not true. I got that from a post of Kneal's but completely misread it. He had posted that they are apparently not going to do specials on gassers and below anymore. But he posted after that to correct me, they are still doing specials on all of the diesel lines. If there are any questions though, best to ask Newmar directly. Apologies for any confusion.

No problemo. I have the dealer checking on a few things that people suggested in another forum.

Why are you talking about working down from MSRP??? You should try working up from dealer invoice. Ask to see the dealer invoice, if they refuse walk...I've bought 2 coaches in the last 12 months and I worked from that... NOT from the MSRP. I got great deals on both of my coaches and was never upside down in my loans.

According to Newmar, the are implementing a new Specials Policy for the 2009 model year. I was told by Newmar that there would be absolutely no Specials of any kind on the Ventana or the Gas Models. Has "watching the bottom line" written all over it.... can't blame 'em though as last I heard production was on a three day week.

Well, we finally worked out a deal today on a Ventana 3942. I got almost 27% off of MSRP.

I'm not the world's greatest negotiator. I shopped around, got quotes from other dealers and took them back to the closest one to me. They matched the best I could get.

I need to find out if the interior and exterior colors are the same for 2008 as 2009. The names are the same.

That's awesome, sounds like a fair deal to me! Helps to have all those other offers in hand when negotiating. Enjoy your new rig!

On the specials rumor, that was a good idea rebelsbeach, that's why you have so many campfires! Instead of posting what I thought somebody said, I should have pasted what they actually DID say, less confusion...

Now I need to start make reservations at Carlisle and the campground next to National Trail Raceway for the Mopar Nats.

We also want to go to the Rat's Nest, er, Disneyworld this Fall. I'll have to look at what's available at Ft. Wilderness.
