Miles vs months

My 2016 Ventana has been sitting more than it has been driven (we do love living in it) and we are preparing for a trip this summer.

She’s been at the dealer for some extended warranty work and then will go to Freightliner for chassis maintenance. Should I have maintenance items performed on the 72 month schedule or the 15,000 miles (we have stayed in some beautiful places) schedule? I’m inclined to go with time over miles but I want input from my fellow owners.

She just got new tires all around.

I've always been told whichever comes first.

If you are using good quality oils, filters and fluids, I would use the miles. A lot of people would disagree with me, but I have never lost an engine due to neglect of due maintenance. Common sense should also be applied. If your coach has been sitting for an obscene long time, then change your oils, filters and fluids.

I agree with Country Road.... since I have several cars, I would be taking them to the shop all the time for 'time' vs. 'miles'.

I just sold a '95 Mercedes E320 Cabriolet last summer that I bought new and drove it 43,000 miles. I pretty much followed the mileage intervals which stretched a couple of years between fluid changes.

The car was garaged when not used, driven somewhat regularly and never any issues.

Personally, I would stick somewhat to a balance between time and miles.

Safe travels,
Mark

Your engine owners manuals go into great detail on correct PM but bottom line is months or miles WHICHEVER comes first. Good Luck
